After initial flushing, remove any contact lenses and continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician if irritation persists. Skin contact: For skin contact flush with large amounts of water. Call a physician if irritation persists. Inhalation: Immediately remove from further exposure. Give supplemental oxygen, if breathing is difficult. If breathing has stopped, assist ventilation with a mechanical device or use mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Ingestion: IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician. If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Note to physician: If the product is ingested, treat the affected person symptomatically. Do not discharge effluent containing this product to sewer systems without previously notifying the local sewage treatment plant authority. The significance of this finding to humans is unknown. Prolonged and repeated exposure of pregnant animals to toluene has been reported to cause adverse fetal developmental effects. Carcinogenicity: Xylene contains ethylbenzene, and has been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals. Toxicity tests carried out for chronic effects and mutagenicity have been negative.
