Skin: May cause irritation, defatting, drying, and cracking. Inhalation: Propellant is a simple asphyxiant. Inhalation of solvents may cause irritation. Ingestion: Methanol may cause blindness and death. Acute Exposure: Dizziness, nausea, irritation to skin and eyes. After initial flushing, remove any contact lenses and continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician if irritation persists. Skin contact: For skin contact flush with large amounts of water. Call a physician if irritation persists. Inhalation: Immediately remove from further exposure. Give supplemental oxygen, if breathing is difficult. If breathing has stopped, assist ventilation with a mechanical device or use mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Ingestion: IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician. If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Note to physician: If the product is ingested, treat the affected person symptomatically. SECTION 5 FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES FLASH POINT: -0.4?F (-15?C) LOWER EXPLOSIVE LIMIT: 1% UPPER EXPLOSIVE LIMIT: 12.8% EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water fog. Foam. Dry chemical powder. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Appropriate for surrounding fire. UNUSUAL FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS: None. SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Water from fogging nozzles may be used to cool closed containers to prevent build-up if exposed to extreme temperatures. As in any fire, wear pressure-demand self-contained breathing apparatus, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full protective gear. SECTION 6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Personal precautions: Isolate area. Keep unnecessary personnel away. Stay upwind. Keep out of low areas. Ventilate spaces before entering. Environmental precautions: Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Methods for containment: Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Wear appropriate protective equipment and clothing during clean-up. Small Spills: Use a non-combustible material like vermiculite, sand or earth to soak up the product and place into a container for disposal. Large Spills: Dike far ahead of liquid spill for later disposal. Do not discharge effluent containing this product into lakes, streams, ponds, estuaries, oceans or other waters unless in accordance with the requirements of a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit and the permitting authority has been notified in writing prior to discharge. Do not discharge effluent containing this product to sewer systems without previously notifying the local sewage treatment plant authority. For guidance, contact your State Water Board or Regional Office of the EPA. SECTION 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling: Avoid breathing mist. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing. Wash hands after handling. Storage: Keep from freezing. Keep containers tightly closed. Store in a cool, dry place. SECTION 11 TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Components Test Results: Reproductive Effects: High exposures to xylene in some animal studies, often at levels toxic to the mother, affected embryo/fetal development. The significance of this finding to humans is unknown. Prolonged and repeated exposure of pregnant animals to toluene has been reported to cause adverse fetal developmental effects. Carcinogenicity: Xylene contains ethylbenzene, and has been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals. Toxicity tests carried out for chronic effects and mutagenicity have been negative.
