HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION Toxicity: May cause eye, skin and respiratory irritation. Reports have associated repeated and prolonged overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage (sometimes referred to as "solvent" or "painter's syndrome"). Symptoms include fatigue, concentration difficulties, anxiety, depression, rapid mood swings, and short-term memory loss. Long term exposure to high concentrations of vapor may cause lung, liver or kidney damage. Prolonged and repeated exposure to methyl ethyl ketone and/or n-hexane may cause peripheral neuropathy by damaging peripheral nerve tissue (that of arms and legs) and result in muscular weakness and loss of sensation. Primary Routes of Entry: Eye and skin contact, ingestion, inhalation Signs and Symptoms of Exposure: Eyes: Exposure to liquid or vapor causes mild eye irritation. Symptoms may include burning, tearing, redness, stinging, blurred vision and corneal injury. Skin: Exposure may cause mild skin irritation. Prolonged or repeated exposure may dry the skin. Symptoms may include redness, burning, drying, cracking and skin burns. Preexisting skin disorders may be aggravated by exposure. . Breathing: Symptoms are typically seen at air concentrations exceeding the recommended exposure limits. Symptoms may include nasal and respiratory irritation, central nervous system (CNS) depression (dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, fatique, nausea, headache, possible unconsciousness, coma and even death). Swallowing: This material can enter the lungs during swallowing or vomiting and cause lung inflammation and/or damage. Aspiration into the lungs can cause chemical pneumonia which can be fatal. FIRST AID MEASURES Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Slowly dilute with 1-2 glasses of water or milk and seek medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Inhalation: Move to fresh air in case of accidental inhalation of vapours. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Obtain medical attention. Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash area with soap and water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention Eye Contact: In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention if irritation persists. 5.
